I've been considering getting a gaming headset for my Xbox 360 so that I can experience the surround sound and intricacies that TV speakers don't deliver.

I've been looking at the Turtle Beach X42s for £89.88, but some googling seems to be telling me it has some issues.

Looking to spend £100 or less, but would be willing to stretch my budget for something quality.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

I use the Turtle Beach DPX21 headset. It works with the 360, PS3 and PC and apart from the mess of cables I can't complain. They do the job quite nicely.

I use the Tritton AX720 headset, and I absolutely love them. Really worth the money, and like the Turtle Beaches, can be used on xbox, PS3 and PC. Between these and the Turtle Beach ones, you can't go wrong I think. I personally prefer the Trittons having tried both but the difference in audio quality is amazing no matter which set you go for. Cranking it up really loud is a great experience, especially on games like Battlefield and Skyrim.
