Yes, but you had the freedom to do so or not. In my case, when I played against my mate(whom is really good), there were rare cases when I could open up for a long distance shot. And when I did, it was a joy of satisfaction to drill a long range shot once in a while. You can still do this in WE9, but the shooting just doesn't seem right to me. I just have to adjust to it.
 
I hate it when you master a game, and then they bring out another one thats TOTALLY different, but then i guess thats what technology is all about eh.
