Player directional movement?

As Fifa 09 only has 8 directional player movement (or 16 when your sprinting), do you think that EA are likely to increase this in Fifa 10 to make the gameplay less restrictive? If so, how many directions do you think they should increase it to, to give the best possible gaming experience.

Also, is it true that earlier Fifa's had 360 degree free player movement then EA took it out in Fifa 2004 for some reason. I read this on a forum earlier.
 
I don't think it'll be changed until the next generation, it doesn't seem like something that would be easy to chance and will probably need the development of a new engine to be incorporated.

No new engine required, it's in Fifa 10. hopefully the game will feel much more organic and natural now.
