Question about PS3 downloadable content for PES

I'm in the USA, planning on buying the European version of PES 2010 and I've read that while the game itself is region free, any downloadable content might not be and I would have to create a EU PSN account and purchase the DLC from the EU store. Does anybody know any more information about this? Thanks in advance...
 
all ps3 games are region free however the downloads have to be for the same region..

i bought winning eleven region 2 but couldnt use the the patch/edit data floatin round da net coz allthough it was for winning eleven.. it was for region 3 not 2
