I have tried to transfer L. Diarra from Chelsea to Arsenal, but I can only change him with another Arsenal player..

Does it not work just to transfer him to the club?

You need to pick Arsenal first and press +add above the team
Then select L.Diarra.

Is there a button to release a player from a team (make them free)?
