Great goalkeepers

I do not think Fabian Barthez is up there with the greatest of keepers. He might just be in the 'best' category at his prime.Too eratic but possesses great agility and kicking. These two are probably his greatest assets.Other than those two he has a lot of flaws like his small stature, poor positioning and concentration.

Southall for me was the best I saw. Although as mentioned Dassaev and Preud Homme where colossal too.

I also like Arconada (I'm sure it was) of Spain.

Schmeicel, Buffon and Cech are top drawer though of recent times.

Celtic's own Artur Boruc is another fantastic goalie and will probably join a top club in Europe in the next year or less.

I add one (i beat biased) but Barthez it's maybe the best goalkeeper on 1 vs 1 and with the feet, both rare quality for a goalkeeper.

It's funny to see how Barthez is criticized for his MU mistakes but it's like the 10 years before were forgotten. During a 3-4 years period, he was the best. Then Buffon showed he was more consistent and deserved the number 1 rank. And it's not chauvinism. I don't like him, even if he played for Marseille... twice in his carreer.

what about this fella

i remember him being marked both as a goalkeeper AND a striker in the early iss versions lol
