Ive done my research and you can get HD even without an HD-Ready TV. Basically all you need is a VGA socket in your TV. Get the Xbox 360 HD VGA cable and plug it in. Your TV, however does need to support high resolutions like 1280x768 which is mine.

HD output is indeed possible....as it always was with screens with a VGA input (yes..that includes that cruddy CRT PC monitor you have in the shed).

But HDTV is another thing altogether. This is primarily to view HD television/video signals when it comes out in the UK (or those already out in the US). You'll need a HD-Ready compatible TV to view this - that doesn't really affect most people here anyway.

So yeah, strictly speaking you don't need a HDTV to play ur 360 with HD quality. But if you are thinking of investing into a TV anytime soon, HDTV is recommended for future viewing...

Yeah, when you first fire your 360 up, provided it had the HDD, you select you language.

I got my 360 on Friday. Project Gotham Racing 3 wold load up but when I would start a race I got message disc is either wrong region or needs cleaning.
I took it back yesterday they raplaced it and I had a few goes it was fine. I tried it again last night ans after an hour maybe 2 I got the message again. I rebooted my 360 and I was fine carried off from where i left off as it has auto save.

I tried Call of Duty 2 was fine untill I loaded second level. While it was loadoing the next level I got the error message again. Disc is unreadable either wrong region or needs cleaning.

Anyone else expereinced this?

My monitor only has one cable at the back which fits into the PC and has no input sockets. Does that mean I cant use the vga cable on my monitor?

Cuz I thought the XGA basically gives you all kinds of different input into your monitor. So I cant really see what could go wrong.

The VGA cable comes with a little adaptor so u can plug both the xbox vga cable and the monitor cable to it. It's called gender changer or somethin'

So I just but a XGA box and the Xbox VGA cables and I can get HD quality on ANY monitor even if it doesnt have input?

hi, theres supposed to be a 2nd batch of consoles arriving in the UK this week and a 3rd the week after etc. microsoft haven't said how many we'll actually be getting, but from what i've heard its probably going to be around the 80,000 mark each week. so hopefully i'll be able to get one before xmas and all the eBay madness will die down.

That's because the tart tried to play rugby with his console! You don't turn a machine over when it's got a disc inside it, it's got moving parts and the disc is spinning what do you think is going to happen?

Side note - I'd love to have enough money to waste discs like that, what a complete fanny. :roll:

well ive just sold my 360 to a family friend. Didnt wanna rip em off so sold it for £400, which is pretty much how much I paid for it. Got PGR3 and Fifa.

3 big reasons why I sold are:

1) sent my HD TV back. A mate who works at the Sony Centre near me told me that 1080p HD TV's will be out very early next year at about the same price I paid for my current one. So patience is the key. I personally think the games look 'ok' rather than 'awesome' on a normal tv.

2) no game keeps me playing. lets face it, we're on this board for our love of good footy games - PES/WE. I tried Fifa and after a couple of days am very board of it. The bad points really do come out after a few hours. Then theres PGR3. I think it looks very good and plays great, but I think something similar couldve been done on the current xbox. also, way too easy.

3) WE9 JLeague. I thought WE9 was great but this update is unbelievable. I havent played PES5 for a while, but since playing the latest WE i cant keep off it. Really has brought the good days back again :) with this game in my PS2 theres no reason to own a xbox 360 for me.


Im sure in the future I'll re-buy the machine, but only when new titles come out that appeal to me. Im obviously waiting on PES6, but also am a big fan of Top Spin. Thats out early next year so might buy the machine again very soon :p

The 360 has some great games, amazing gameplay and graphics. I really enjoy playing on it. I have just had two 1 hour sessions on PGR3 with no errors or problems but I just keep thinking sooner rather than later it is going to pack up.

I've had long session on PGR3, like 5 hours or so, and still no problems whatsoever. But sometimes while playing I look over at the console thinking: "You better not die on me you sexy bitch!" :)

btw, online pgr3 is great. Haven't bothered to connect the headphone/mic yet, but got a good laugh listening to a couple of americans talking about the great lenghts they had to go to get the 360, while i just walked in a store and picked one up... :D

My Local GameStation Screwed me outta a 360!! they gave some bullshit excuse saying that my phone was being answered by a spanish person!! So I told them to ring my phone and what a surprise it rang!!! They gave my pre order to the next person and said to me.... you gotta wait till at least March 06 if you have any hope of getting one!! now im seriously Pissed.... So I got a PSP instead.
