shield the ball,wots the best way todo this when the ball is coming from a coal kick,as i press r2 and the player seems to run off is there another way i can do this
 
well i hate them coal kicks, but you need to keep hold of R2 and move your player as much towards the ball as possible

R1+R2 usually gives me more control.
 
What Andro said.

To control a goal kick or long high ball, once your player is in front of the defender, just hold R1 and he'll attempt to chect is down and control it.
